Ingredients:
- 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup (150g) brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
- 1 large egg (approx. 50g)
- 1 tsp (5ml) pure vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup (60ml) pure Canadian maple syrup
- 2 1/4 cups (280g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp (5g) baking soda
- 1/2 tsp (3g) salt
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (about 3 minutes).
- Add the egg, vanilla extract, and maple syrup. Mix on medium speed until the batter is smooth and well-combined.
- Sift together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually stir this into the wet ingredients until just combined, taking care not to overmix.
- Cover the dough and refrigerate for 30 minutes to ensure the cookies maintain their shape.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Form 1-inch balls using a cookie scoop and place them 2 inches apart on the baking sheet.
- Bake for 7–9 minutes. Remove when edges are set and barely golden; centers should look slightly underdone.
- Let the cookies cool completely on a wire rack.
