Ingredients:
- 1 pound Breakfast Pork Sausage (mild or hot)
- 2 cups Baking Mix (e.g., Bisquick)
- 2 cups Sharp Cheddar Cheese (packed, freshly grated)
- 1/4 cup Whole Milk
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon Dried Mustard Powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Freshly Ground Black Pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon Onion Powder (Optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two standard baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.
- In the large mixing bowl, whisk together the baking mix, shredded cheddar cheese, mustard powder, black pepper, and onion powder (if using).
- Pour the whole milk and the Worcestershire sauce into the dry ingredients. Stir lightly to begin integrating the liquid.
- Add the cold breakfast sausage to the mixture.
- Using your hands or a stand mixer on low speed, mix all the ingredients together until just combined and uniform. The mixture should be tacky and firm, but avoid overmixing.
- Using a 1.5-inch (4 cm) cookie scoop, portion the mixture into uniform balls. Roll lightly between your palms to smooth the shape, if necessary.
- Place the sausage balls onto the prepared baking sheets, ensuring they are spaced about 1 inch (2.5 cm) apart.
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until golden brown and the internal temperature registers 165°F (74°C).
- Remove from the oven and allow them to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Serve warm.
