Ingredients:
- 6 cups peeled and sliced Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
Instructions:
- Peel, core, and slice apples into 1/4-inch thick wedges.
- In a large bowl, combine sliced apples with lemon juice, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and flour. Toss until evenly coated.
- Pour the apple mixture into a 9x13 inch baking dish and spread evenly.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, and salt.
- Add cold, cubed butter to the oat mixture. Use a pastry cutter or fork to blend until coarse crumbs form with some pea-sized chunks of butter remaining.
- Sprinkle the crumble evenly over the apples without pressing it down.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for 40–50 minutes until fruit juices bubble and topping is deep golden brown.
- Let the crisp rest for 10–15 minutes before serving to allow juices to thicken.
