Ingredients:
- 1 cup warm water (105°F–115°F)
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/3 cup melted unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon instant yeast
- 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
- 1 large egg, room temperature
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons melted salted butter
- 1/4 teaspoon flaky sea salt
Instructions:
- In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine warm water (110°F), honey, and 1/3 cup melted unsalted butter. Whisk in the instant yeast and let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Add the egg and fine sea salt to the yeast mixture. Using the dough hook on low speed, gradually add 3 cups of flour.
- Continue mixing, adding the remaining flour 1 tablespoon at a time until the dough is slightly tacky but pulls away from the sides of the bowl. This uses the remaining 1 cup of flour.
- Allow the dough to rest in the bowl for 10 minutes to allow the flour to fully hydrate and the gluten to relax.
- Divide the dough into 12 equal portions and shape into smooth balls. Place them in a greased 9x13 inch baking pan.
- Cover and let the rolls rise in a warm spot for 15 minutes while preheating the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake for 20 minutes or until the tops are golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and immediately brush with 2 tablespoons of melted salted butter and a sprinkle of flaky sea salt.
