Ingredients:
- 1 cup (170g) uncooked quinoa
- 1 ¾ cups (415ml) water or low-sodium vegetable broth
- ½ tsp (3g) fine sea salt
Instructions:
- Place the quinoa in a fine-mesh strainer. Rinse under cold running water for at least 30 seconds, shaking the strainer vigorously until the water runs clear and no longer looks foamy.
- Combine the rinsed quinoa, water (or broth), and salt in a saucepan. Bring the mixture to a rolling boil over high heat.
- Immediately reduce the heat to low, cover with a tight-fitting lid, and simmer for 15 minutes, or until the liquid is mostly absorbed and the germ spirals separate from the grain.
- Remove the pan from the heat entirely. Keep the lid on and let the pot sit undisturbed for 10 minutes to allow residual steam to finish the cooking process.
- Fluff gently with a fork before serving.
