Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (170g) uncooked quinoa
  • 1 ¾ cups (415ml) water or low-sodium vegetable broth
  • ½ tsp (3g) fine sea salt

Instructions:

  1. Place the quinoa in a fine-mesh strainer. Rinse under cold running water for at least 30 seconds, shaking the strainer vigorously until the water runs clear and no longer looks foamy.
  2. Combine the rinsed quinoa, water (or broth), and salt in a saucepan. Bring the mixture to a rolling boil over high heat.
  3. Immediately reduce the heat to low, cover with a tight-fitting lid, and simmer for 15 minutes, or until the liquid is mostly absorbed and the germ spirals separate from the grain.
  4. Remove the pan from the heat entirely. Keep the lid on and let the pot sit undisturbed for 10 minutes to allow residual steam to finish the cooking process.
  5. Fluff gently with a fork before serving.
