Ingredients:
- 1 can (415g) British Baked Beans
- 2 thick slices (80g) Sourdough bread
- 1 tbsp (14g) Unsalted Butter, divided
- 1 tsp (5ml) Worcestershire Sauce
- 1/4 tsp Cracked Black Pepper
- 1/2 tsp (2.5g) Smoked Paprika
- 1/4 cup (25g) Sharp Cheddar Cheese, grated
- 1 tbsp Fresh Chives or Parsley, finely chopped
Instructions:
- Place the baked beans in a small non-stick saucepan over medium-low heat. Simmer gently for 5–7 minutes, stirring frequently with a silicone spatula until the sauce thickens and coats the back of a spoon.
- While the beans simmer, toast the sourdough slices until deeply golden brown. Immediately spread half of the butter (7g) across both slices to create a fat barrier.
- Remove the beans from the heat. Stir in the remaining butter, Worcestershire sauce, black pepper, and smoked paprika until the butter is fully emulsified into the sauce.
- Place the buttered toast on plates and pour the hot bean mixture over the center. Top immediately with grated sharp cheddar cheese and garnished with chopped chives or parsley.
