Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (170g) uncooked quinoa
  • 2 cups (480ml) water or vegetable broth
  • 1/2 tsp (3g) salt

Instructions:

  1. Place the quinoa in a fine-mesh strainer and rinse under cold running water for 30 seconds, shaking well to remove saponins.
  2. Add the rinsed quinoa, water (or broth), and salt to a medium pot.
  3. Turn the heat to high and bring the liquid to a rolling boil.
  4. Immediately reduce the heat to low, cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid, and simmer undisturbed for 15 minutes.
  5. Remove the pot from the heat. Keep the lid on and let it sit undisturbed for 5 to 10 minutes to allow residual steam to redistribute.
  6. Remove the lid and gently scrape the edges with a fork, fluffing the grains to release any remaining steam.
