Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup smoked paprika (or standard paprika)
- 2 Tbsp fine sea salt
- 2 Tbsp garlic powder
- 1 Tbsp onion powder
- 1 Tbsp chili powder
- 1 Tbsp freshly ground black pepper
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1 tsp ground mustard
- 1 tsp cayenne pepper (customizable heat factor)
Instructions:
- Combine all dry ingredients (brown sugar, paprika, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, black pepper, thyme, ground mustard, and cayenne pepper) in a medium mixing bowl.
- Whisk thoroughly for approximately 2 minutes until all ingredients are evenly distributed and no clumps remain, ensuring the salt and sugar are fully integrated into the spice mixture.
- Store the finished dry rub in an airtight container in a cool, dark place. Use immediately by applying liberally to chicken skin (about 2 tablespoons per pound of meat) and allowing to sit for at least 30 minutes before cooking.
