Ingredients:
- 2 (6 ounce) Ahi Tuna Steaks (at least 1 inch thick)
- 1/4 cup Low Sodium Soy Sauce (or Tamari)
- 1 tablespoon Sesame Oil
- 1 tablespoon Fresh Ginger, grated
- 2 cloves Garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon Honey
- 1 tablespoon Fresh Lime Juice
- Salt and freshly ground Black Pepper (to taste)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Marinade: In a small bowl, whisk together the low sodium soy sauce, sesame oil, grated fresh ginger, minced garlic, honey, and lime juice.
- Marinate the Tuna: Pat the tuna steaks completely dry and season lightly with salt and pepper. Place the steaks in the marinade for 15 to 20 minutes, flipping halfway through. Do not marinate longer than 20 minutes to preserve the texture of the fish.
- Preheat the Grill: Preheat your grill to the highest possible heat setting. Ensure the grates are clean. Lightly oil the grates using a high-smoke-point oil (like canola or vegetable oil).
- Sear the Tuna: Remove the tuna steaks from the marinade and pat them dry again immediately before placing them on the hot grill. Grill for 1.5 to 2 minutes per side for a perfect medium-rare (target internal temperature 125°F). The edges should have a visible, dark sear.
- Rest and Serve: Immediately remove the steaks from the grill and let them rest for 1 minute before slicing thinly against the grain and serving.
