Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (170g) quinoa
  • 2 cups (480ml) water
  • 1/2 tsp (3g) salt

Instructions:

  1. Place the quinoa in a fine-mesh strainer. Run cold water over the grains for 30-60 seconds, tossing them with your fingers to remove saponins, then drain thoroughly.
  2. Combine the rinsed quinoa, water, and salt in a medium saucepan. Bring the mixture to a rolling boil over high heat.
  3. Reduce the heat to the lowest setting, cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid, and simmer undisturbed for 15 minutes.
  4. Remove the pot from the heat. Keep the lid on and let the quinoa rest for 5-10 minutes to allow moisture to redistribute.
  5. Remove the lid and use a fork to gently rake the grains, breaking up any clumps until the quinoa is light and airy.
