Ingredients:
- One (21-ounce / 595 grams) can Canned Apple Pie Filling
- 1 tablespoon Fresh Lemon Juice
- ½ teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
- Pinch of Sea Salt
- 1 cup (120 grams) All-Purpose Flour
- ½ cup (100 grams) Light Brown Sugar, packed
- 1 cup (90 grams) Old-Fashioned Rolled Oats
- ¼ teaspoon Ground Nutmeg
- ½ cup (1 stick / 113 grams) Unsalted Butter, chilled and cubed
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease your 8x8 or 9-inch baking dish.
- In a small bowl, gently combine the canned apple pie filling, fresh lemon juice, ground cinnamon, and the pinch of salt. Pour the enhanced filling mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, brown sugar, rolled oats, and ground nutmeg until thoroughly combined.
- Add the cubed, cold butter to the dry ingredients. Using your fingertips, quickly 'rub' the butter into the dry mixture until it resembles coarse, sandy crumbs or pea-sized pieces. Handle the mixture as little as possible to maintain coldness.
- Evenly sprinkle the entire crumble mixture over the apple filling, ensuring the filling is fully covered. Do not press the topping down.
- Place the dish in the preheated oven. Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until the topping is beautifully golden brown and the filling is visibly bubbling around the edges.
- Carefully remove the dish from the oven. Allow the crumble to rest for at least 15 minutes before serving. This resting time allows the hot filling to thicken properly.
