Ingredients:

  • One (21-ounce / 595 grams) can Canned Apple Pie Filling
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh Lemon Juice
  • ½ teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  • Pinch of Sea Salt
  • 1 cup (120 grams) All-Purpose Flour
  • ½ cup (100 grams) Light Brown Sugar, packed
  • 1 cup (90 grams) Old-Fashioned Rolled Oats
  • ¼ teaspoon Ground Nutmeg
  • ½ cup (1 stick / 113 grams) Unsalted Butter, chilled and cubed

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease your 8x8 or 9-inch baking dish.
  2. In a small bowl, gently combine the canned apple pie filling, fresh lemon juice, ground cinnamon, and the pinch of salt. Pour the enhanced filling mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, brown sugar, rolled oats, and ground nutmeg until thoroughly combined.
  4. Add the cubed, cold butter to the dry ingredients. Using your fingertips, quickly 'rub' the butter into the dry mixture until it resembles coarse, sandy crumbs or pea-sized pieces. Handle the mixture as little as possible to maintain coldness.
  5. Evenly sprinkle the entire crumble mixture over the apple filling, ensuring the filling is fully covered. Do not press the topping down.
  6. Place the dish in the preheated oven. Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until the topping is beautifully golden brown and the filling is visibly bubbling around the edges.
  7. Carefully remove the dish from the oven. Allow the crumble to rest for at least 15 minutes before serving. This resting time allows the hot filling to thicken properly.
