Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (170g) uncooked quinoa
  • 2 cups (480ml) water
  • 1 tbsp (14g) unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves (9g) garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp (3g) sea salt

Instructions:

  1. Place the quinoa in a fine-mesh strainer and rinse under cold running water for 30 seconds. Shake well to remove excess moisture.
  2. Place the saucepan over medium heat and melt the butter. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant but not brown.
  3. Stir in the rinsed quinoa, stirring constantly for 2–3 minutes until the grains smell nutty and look slightly toasted.
  4. Pour in the water and stir in the salt. Bring the mixture to a rolling boil, then immediately reduce the heat to low.
  5. Cover with the lid and simmer for 15 minutes without lifting the lid.
  6. Remove the pan from the heat. Keep the lid on and let the quinoa rest for 5 minutes.
  7. Remove the lid and use a fork to gently fluff the grains, separating them without mashing.
